Impact Of Globalization On A Developed Economy Economics Essay

Effect Of Globalization On A Developed Economy Economics Essay Globalization is utilized to depict assortment sorts of related however discrete, political, sociological, financial and business marvels. As a rule terms, globalization alludes to the expanding worldwide relationship of national economies and advancement of overall business rivalry, exercises, and markets (Stonehouse, 2005). The most widely recognized definition and the one which generally utilized in worldwide business is financial globalization, which implies a universal reconciliation of inclination, for example, data, work, innovation, items and capital (Ball 2010). Worldwide enterprises (MNCs), which dominant part bolstered by the industrialized nations governments, and universal budgetary associations, for example, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), are the fundamental operators in financial globalization. What's more, an accelerative number of little and medium-sized endeavors are associated with worldwide business activities as accomplices in this preparing (Ahmad, 2001). This paper wills investigation the handling of monetary globalization, posting the drivers with assessing the qualities, and afterward evaluating the effects on a created economy and a creating economy individually. Drivers of globalization Globalization expanded the interconnections of monetary between nations. Accord to the hypothesis of Ball (2010) and Cavusgil (2008), there are five significant sorts of drivers: Political: government disposes of hindrances to exchange and remote speculation. Worldwide firms both sending out and constructing creation offices in various nations to open new markets. A significant part of the businesses in the past socialist countries are privatization to take an interest in the worldwide rivalry. Mechanical: Customers could get familiar with outside products and have all the more option to pick by the advances interchanges innovation. Little organizations become contending worldwide by utilizing the web and system registering, which likewise directs countless organizations to make exchanges with E-business frameworks. Market: As organizations globalize, they additionally become worldwide traditions. At the point when firms soaked the home markets, they start to send branch organizations into outside business sectors. There are 84% of universes biggest organizations expect that worldwide markets will produce most of their development in the following five years (Dow Jones review Cited in Ball, 2010). Cost: Economies of scale diminish the unit cost by globalize product offerings. These expenses incorporate creation, advancement and stock expenses. The organization can move creation or different parts esteem chain to minimal effort nation by take neighborhood points of interest. Serious: Globalization drives power expanding rivalry for entire organizations all around the globe. New organizations, bounteous from recently industrialized and creating nations, have entered worldwide markets in vehicles, PCs, and hardware so as to get increasingly serious edge. These drivers which are the prevailing power for financial incorporation have assortment impacts on various financial aspects rely upon the specific circumstance. Creating economy Positive effects Globalization can improve financial advancement in the creating economies. Countless inquires about have evaluated the effects of globalization on the since a long time ago run development of yield and concur that universal exchange and globalization are significant elements for a creating economy to construct a positive monetary framework. They call attention to that higher globalization strategies can drives nations to have higher Steady State Growth Rates (SSGR) (Rao, 2009). Concentrating on the FDI inflows, further developed innovation and supervisor strategy associated with the creating nations could legitimately quicken the nearby financial developing (Marques, 2009). The degree of money related streams appeared to enhance the creating economies deficiencies of capital and to empower their interest in certain viewpoints, for example, the development of infrastructural offices (Spence, 2010). Furthermore, globalization drives development of universal business and Increasing serious in the creating nations. The general guideline in globalization is that the most serious one is the most effective (Knight, 2008). As the WTO and different associations have Impact on the development division in creating nations during globalization, which help creating nations monetary to develop, by permitting rivalry to separate the wasteful aspects of enterprises that were taken cover behind different hindrances to exchange (Ball, 2010, p.20). So as to be progressively serious in world markets, nearby enterprises must acquire propelled business innovation as acquisition of capital products, direct venture, and the option to utilize the universal companys expertise or information. This procedure of advancement drives governments to procure greater ability of rivalry for business sectors, social utilities and administrations (Spence, 2010). At long last, globalization gives creating economy more and better occupations. As per the similar preferred position hypothesis, exchange and FDI should exploit the abundant work in creating economy thus trigger a pattern of specialization in residential work concentrated exercises and, eventually, an extension in nearby business (Rugman, 2009, p.5). FDIs cause positive business impacts both straightforwardly and in a roundabout way through occupation creation by providers and retailers; they likewise produce a tertiary work impact by producing extra earnings and accordingly expanding total interest (Lall, 2004, p.75). Spiezia (2004, p.154) measures the sent out and imported of work powers and non-exchanged products, and infers that in 21 out of 39 inspected creating nations an expansion in the volume of exchange brought about an expansion in business. He likewise finds that the effect of FDI on work could increments per-capita salary when all is said in done. What's more, globalization could diminish destitution. Undoubtedly, most of creating nations, especially quick globalizing nations, for example, India, China, and Vietnam, encountered a critical decline in the extent of their populace which is living underneath the destitution line. The World Development Indicators shows that the extent of outrageous destitution individuals in China tumbled from 56 to 31 percent somewhere in the range of 1981 and 1999. Interestingly, that nations dismissed globalization, Including Myanmar, Sierra Leone and Ukraine are consistently the most devastated nations on the planet (Ball, 2010). Negative effects The significant negative effect on creating nations is globalization will lead a creating economy to more prominent instability with diminishing financial development in brief timeframe, especially in the capital markets. The budgetary linkages of creating nations with the overall monetary framework have essentially expanded in late decades (Prasad, 2003). With the money related globalization, the multiplication of monetary emergencies among creating economies are regularly seen as a characteristic outcome of the developing torments (Prasad, 2003). The Asian budgetary emergency, a huge number of firms failed during the downturn in creating nations. As the worldwide budgetary market keep on being capricious, opening up to capital markets can worsen such existing local bends and lead to cataclysmic results (Aizenman, 2002, p.4319). The extending outside claimed organizations in nearby economy came to be seen as a danger to independence by countless governments with the decrease of duties and the disposal of quantitative limitations. The monetary quality of enormous organizations is much bigger than the nearby governments in many creating nations. For moment, the yearly income of Wal-Mart is higher than the GDP of Poland, Israel and Greece (Cavusgil, 2008). The MNCs can campaign the legislature or supported the choice so as to profit by changing the nearby economies and social structures (Knight, 2008). They can likewise influence the authoritative procedure, advantage from government organizations. Furthermore, the MNCs likewise danger the endurance of household firms because of the low seriousness of local undertakings (Langmore, 2004). Therefore, some customary traditions and businesses are vanishing. Hoang (2006) contends that globalization prompts misuse of work in the creating nations because of the created nations exploit modest work. As all these remote interest in the creating nations are quest for benefits, a few specialists contend that an enormous number of MNCs utilizing kid work and paying slave compensation. These sweatshops additionally give hopeless working conditions in Dongguan, China and Africa (Stonehouse, 2004). As per the hypothesis of Beine (2008), globalization prompts cerebrum channel in creating nations. It has opened nation effectively with the expectation of complimentary development of works, particularly specialists and experts. This issue is generally in creating nations, for example, India, China and Africa where a portion of the certified staff move to created nations to land positions because of poor monetary conditions and absence of good money related arrangements in their homeland. Created economy Positive effects Globalization is vastly improved for created monetary development. Overall, nations that globalized more, the accomplished development rates could be higher, particularly valid for real financial combination in created nations with the advancement on exchange and capital. There is likewise proof, that cross-fringe data streams advance development (Drehera 2006, p.1080). In addition, with a completely incorporated market of administrations, work, capital and products, expanded internationalization prompts bigger salary and deals, which in prompts more prominent benefit potential particularly in abusing developing markets (Sledge, 2006). The worldwide firms from created countries acknowledge a lot of execution profits by globalization and pay more deals expense to their administration. G

If you dont pee in your pants or throw up, youre not running fast enough.

If you dont pee in your pants or throw up, youre not running fast enough. On a call with my transformational growth group last week, one of the participants shared her high school running coachs words to the team: If you dont pee in your pants or throw up, youre not running fast enough. I immediately recalled a recent yoga class that I attended, where at the peak of the practice in a hot room I attemptedâ€"and came close to achievingâ€"a difficult arm balance pose. I felt a wave of nausea come over me and knew I was venturing into new territory. Then I thought about last summer at the outdoor pool, when I watched a kid on the swim team barf by the fence and then hop right back into the pool. Other images, like early contestants on The Biggest Loser losing their cookies repeatedly, also came to mind. Similar physical reactions can result from experiencing strong emotional reactions. I have seen people vomit while doing emotional work; and I certainly know the feeling of queasiness that can come from touching deep emotional fear and pain, or from taking a risk in interpersonal communication. Sometimes simply the thought of doing something new or different for my business makes me want to throw up. What all these triggers have in common is that they arise when people are pushing past their comfort zoneâ€"which, by definition, is not comfortable! But this doesn’t mean that the activity or work is something to be avoided. If there’s anything new you want in your life, whether a physical result or an emotional transformation, you will experience discomfort on the way to achieving it. Is there somewhere in your life where you are jogging along, letting yourself get comfortable and staying there?  What would it look like to push past your comfort zone?  Are you willing to experience fear, nausea, or even peeing in your pants to get the result you want? Im choosing to take that feeling of nausea and/or fear as an indication that Im pushing my life in ways I want to push it. It means Im digging deeper. The payoff is stronger muscles, stronger relationships, and a stronger business. If you want to stretch more than you’re stretching in your life and work, and feel like you don’t have the tools or courage to do it, I recommend the training I’ve been taking part in for the past 2 years. See www.transformweekendtraining.com. The next weekend introductory workshop is March 13-15 in Chicago and you can register for free using code TTCOMP. I will be there and would love to meet you!

My Papas Waltz And Photograph Of My Father - 1460 Words

A strong bond between a father and son is critical for a healthy relationship. In almost every culture there is a strong emphasis on father-son relationships. Growing up every boy admires his father and aspires to be just like him, hence the phrase â€Å"Like father, like son.† This puts a significant amount of pressure on the father, forcing him to be a good role model for his son. However, many fathers fail to be a positive role model for their sons which can skew their perception of an ideal father figure. In the poems â€Å"My Papa’s Waltz† written by Theodore Roethke and â€Å"Photograph of My Father in His Twenty-second Year† written by Raymond Carver the theme of a father-son relationship is central to both poems. These two poems are both similar†¦show more content†¦Of course there is no wrong interpretation of this poem however it leans more toward a positive tone about a father-son relationship that is full of love. The second poem is Ra ymond Carver’s â€Å"Photograph of My Father in His Twenty-second Year.† This Poem is about a son, who is all grown up, that has returned to his childhood home where he has discovered a picture of his father. Upon discovering this picture the narrator is reminded of his relationship with his father when he was young. This poem is broken down into three stanzas. In the first stanza and the first half of the second stanza the narrator is describing his father appearance. Carver writes, â€Å"I study my father s embarrassed young man s face / Sheepish grin, he holds in one hand a string / of spiny yellow perch, in the other / a bottle of Carlsbad Beer (lines 1-5). â€Å"In jeans and denim shirt, he leans / against the front fender of a 1934 Ford† (lines 6-7). The narrator tells us that his father dressed this way in order to appear as more â€Å"manly† and as a better father figure. He says, â€Å"He would like to pose bluff and hearty for his posterity, / Wear his old hat cocked over his ear. / All his life my father wanted to be bold. / But the eyes give him away, and the hands / hat limply offer the string of dead perch† (lines 8-12). Riveter Looking at this war poster as a whole looks very normal to many viewers (it contains a statement which states â€Å"We Can Do It! † in white letters with a blue background). It also contains two main colors; blue and yellow. Rosie the riveter is the main person in the ad, along with the main subject. We will write a custom essay sample on We Can Do It! or any similar topic only for you Order Now She is wearing a blue collar shirt, an orange and white hair scarf and a collar button. At the bottom of the ad is a large W letter underlined which stands for women’s rights ( women’s right logo is right underneath the letter W). Along with the letter is a war production committee logo in the right orner. With this statement in the ad and Rosie the riveter as the main subject a viewer can tell that the poster was used in the 1940’s. During this time, many male workers were off fighting in the war, causing females to begin working in the factories. Soon after males returned home they desired females to return to their home making Jobs. Enjoying the new freedom, females were very doubtful about returning to house making Jobs. This ad explains how color portrays masculinity, how the statement â€Å"We Can Do It! in this ad expresses the emotions, struggles and goals of females during the war time and Rosie the riveter showing her muscles, ymbolizes power. The background of this ad uses colors to portray deeper meanings to its viewers. The naw blue color behind the statement â€Å"We Can Do It! † explains the false statement that it takes masculinity to work in factories. For many years males were the only workers working in factories, so custom to tradition it was abnormal to think that females had the ability to work in factories. Leading to the letters â€Å"We Can Do It† to be written in white bold letters on top of the naw blue. The white bold letters are symbolizing the purity in the work force, females in factories. Females at his time wanted to work in factories and not return to the house making Jobs. Another color seen throughout this ad is bright yellow. The main color is yellow; yellow symbolizes a storm. The storm for females at this time was being stuck, stuck in a position on a house maker, a mother and a wife. Females going to work in factories and saying â€Å"We Can Do It! was busting through the typical role of a house maker and allowed females to pass through the storm of being stuck. The statement â€Å"We Can Do It! † in this ad expresses the emotions, struggles and goals of females during the war time. Women at this time were struggling to come out of the typical female role as a house maker and show that as females they could work Just as hard as males. Struggling to overco me traditional stereotypes brought out many emotions in females. With all these emotions females started to make goals and statements around the world. In this ad right under the words â€Å"We Can Do It! † Rosie the riveter has a very serious and emotional look on her face. Having a serious look on her face is stating that females were done feeling inferior and unimportant to society, tired of being doubted by the males of th e world. Along with her serious look, Rosie the iveter was wearing make-up and a hair bandana. The hair bandana and make-up are displaying that with all the statements about working Just as hard as males and tired of feeling inferior, females can still be females. Rosie the riveter is showing her muscle in this ad to symbolize power. Half of her sleeve is rolled up to symbolize what nas already started and what is yet to come, temale power. Following ner arm down to her hand, she shows a closed fist. Her fist displays two things; fghting action towards those who will try to stand in her way and a closed mind to her opinion as if no one can tell her what she is doing is wrong. Along with showing her muscles and fist, she also has a female power button on her collar. This button shows strength in numbers since she’s visually saying that it takes more than one person to change the image of females and roles they play. In addition to the button, Rosie has a blue collar shirt verse a white collar shirt. The blue collar shirt stands for manual labor working. Manual labor working is what females wanted at this time, not to work as a major or a white collar worker. As we can see with posters like this, symbolism is shown throughout images all around. To fully understand ads and posters ometimes you have to dig a little deeper for true meanings. Rosie the riveter helps explain the message females wanted to convey at this time, to work in factories along with males. This poster helps explain not only what it says, â€Å"We Can Do It† but also the struggle, goals and emotions that females had during this time. With showing emotions, struggles and goals, this ad also visual explains the power females had. Knowing the struggle females had during the war time, makes me appreciate being a female even more. Adolescence and Social Determinants Method †Free Samples to Students

Question: Discuss about the Adolescence and Social Determinants Method. Answer: Introduction: The impact of various influential determinants of health and the impacts that this influential determinants can facilitate on the status of public health has been investigated quite a few times by the researchers. The common verdict out of the extensive research that has been carried out indicated at the alarming nature of the determinants being able to alter both the health status and health outcomes. Hence a variety of models have been developed in an attempt to characterize or standardize the impact of the different range of determinants on health and health in general. One of the most relevant, applicable and abundantly used health determinant analysis model determinants of health model management, developed by the Dahlgren and Whitehead in the year of 1981 (Montano Kasprzyk, 2015). This model utilizes the broad concepts of different social or socio-ecological determinants and the most appreciative factor with this model is the fact that it discusses or evaluates the impact of each group of influential determinants in layers of effect. The authors have attempted to link the theory of social ecology with the concept of health, and attempts to analyse and evaluate the relationship of an individual, his health and the environment. There are four layers of determinants with their individual impact is analysed. The first layer is personal behaviour, the second layer is social and community influences, the third is structural factors and the last layer is general socio-economic, environmental and cultural influences (DiClemente, Salazar Crosby, 2013). As mentioned above, there can be a number of different factors can contribute to the health of different individuals. However the extent of the influence or even the pattern of influence depends heavily on the lifestyle, socio-economic status and living conditions of the individual concerned. Although, these influential components can be easily characterized or evaluated with the help of health determinant models. The determinants model of health can be one of the most applicable models of health to assess or analyse the impact of different social or socio-ecological determinants on the health conditions of any individual. The model by Dahlgren and whitehead uses a very broad concept of determinants which can be very easily applied to any particular situation; hence I would use this model to reflect upon my own health influences. However in my case the only layers of determinants applicable are layer three and four. In case of layer three, the structural element of my life comprises of sectors like living and working conditions, as I am an aspiring heath care professionals the exposure to health abnormalities can have a significant impact on my health and along with that the living conditions of mine has also a significant impact with the fact that I live in a highly congested and polluted area. The general socio-economic factor also applies to my situation as I belong to a particular ethnic background and with limited financial resources. Hence, the health care services accessible are also limited for my native background, and the lack of adequate cultural safety also limits my health acre experience (Babitsch, Gohl von Lengerke, 2012). Health behaviours can be defined as the set of traditional beliefs or principles that are applied in order for health promotion or prevention of any disease. There can be a various range of health behaviours and the health behaviours of an individual is generally influenced by the cultural and religious background or personal lifestyle choices. In regards to my own native ethnic background the health behaviours that I exhibit are also heavily influenced by my cultural beliefs and traditions. The health behaviour that I would like to mention here is the lack of or low level of physical activity that is very common and conspicuous for native Australian communities. According to the recent statistics shared almost 18% of the aboriginal individuals exhibit non-existent levels of physical activity. There are various factors that contribute to this particular health behaviour, first and foremost the lack of financial stability limit the time available to contribute to physical fitness sess ions and activities. Along with that, most of the aboriginal communities engage in handicrafts and handmade object manufacturing as earning options and therefore, with the most of the day spent in it the time for physical activity is limited. The lack of health literacy and knowledge regarding the need for physical activity to avoid certain health conditions also contribute to this particular health behaviour management (Braveman Gottlieb, 2014). A behaviour change theory can easily be applied to this scenario is order to overcome this health behaviour and change it for the better. It has to be understood that a health behaviours is associated with socio-economic conditions, lifestyle and health literacy or in some cases the traditional beliefs and understanding. The theory of reasoned action can be implied to this scenario, this theory attempts to link the change in behaviour with making the person responsible for the behaviour understand the consequences of their behaviour. Similarly, in this case, the lack of health literacy and understanding of consequences of the health behaviours have contributed to the establishment of this particular health behaviour. Health education and empowerment sessions employed can help in meeting the gaps in literacy and incorporating reasonable judgement in the natives that will propel them towards changing their behaviour for the better (Sallis, Owen Fisher, 2015). The obesity prevention program in place in the Australia takes into consideration the unequal distribution of obesity related health problem in the socio-economic minority groups like the aboriginals. The health promotional strategy to combat obesity related issues attempts to explore the key contributing factors behind the prevalent health behaviour contributing to the rise in obesity and target those to reduce obesity and promote healthy living in the minority groups (gov.au., 2017). The actions taken to improve health and reduce obesity include making the participants aware of the consequences of obesity and take logical decisions that will improve their health status and reduce bodyweight affectively; these actions will include dietary changes, physical exercise regime and frequent clinical assessment. Now according to theory of reasoned action, a behavioural change theory, knowledge incorporates reasonable decision making in the individuals. The aboriginals and their vastly lack ing health literacy and scientific reason regarding health promotional and preventative activities have contributed to the rise in obesity largely, incorporating knowledge and reason to the strategy in accordance with theory o reasoned action targets the health behaviour change efficiently (Dolatian et al., 2013). The Ottawa charter can be described as the health promotional framework introduced by WHO globally as an international agreement. There are five separate areas of action for the Ottawa charter that target each of the health promotional needs of the world. Among the 5 action areas, strengthening community actions relates to this scenario as it targets each of the minority groups and their health abnormalities associated with obesity. The second action that relates is Re-orienting health care services toward prevention of illness and promotion of health as prevention of obesity and promotional strategy for improving good health practices that can reduce obesity is implemented in the program (gov.au., 2017). About Nickel Dimed Essay Example

About Nickel Dimed Paper Barbara Ehrenreich’s non-fiction bestseller, Nickel and Dimed, is the story of an essay writer who went undercover as a low wage worker to find out how non-skilled workers make ends meet. The experiment took place in Florida, Maine, and Minnesota, with the author finding a job and lodgings in each location. The experiment was to be held for one month in each location, working full time and living only off the amount of money earned in low-wage jobs. The goal was to determine whether or not the author could both live off the money earned and have enough money at the end of the month to pay the next month’s rent. The purpose of Ehrenreich’s book is simply to determine if she â€Å"could match income to expenses, as the truly poor attempt to do every day. † Working different jobs in restaurants, a hotel, a nursing home, a cleaning service, and at a major retailer Ehrenreich finds the truth – it is nearly impossible to match income and expense on wage income. Her research shows that a strong â€Å"work ethic† is often not enough to provide necessities like shelter, food, and transportation. Barbara undertakes life as a person that earns poverty-level wages. The book is a real eye opener to what you can actually do for six to seven dollars an hour. The theme of this book is, from my view, you never realize what you have until it is gone. People all across the United States of America live without some of our necessities because they cant afford much more than shelter and food. Barbara shows in this book that living on minimum wage is possible, but barely. My analysis of the theme in this book is very important for people to see and understand that the group of people who earn the bare minimum wage is probably what you wouldnt suspect. Most Americans believe all those who are poor and homeless are those without a job, only surviving on a little amount received through governmental aid. But in this book, we learn that is no always true. People can still have a job living in the same conditions as someone who doesn’t have a job. They can just have very low-wage jobs. These low-wage jobs hourly pay from the $5. 15 mandatory minimum to the mere but reputable $10 wage. At this salary one may not seem noticeably poor, however factor in the needed expenses of housing, food, childcare, and transportation, one may dwindle into poverty. With an increasing amount of low wage workers from such communities as those of welfare recipients, the employment opportunity is becoming scarce forcing one to migrate in order to accomplish the best salary, leaving a more stressful lifestyle with many more hardships to endure.

Good Manufacturing Practices

Good Manufacturing Practices Introduction Good manufacturing practices are the set guideline that outlines the process of manufacturing and testing to enhance on the quality of the pharmaceutical drugs (Moynihan 2003). This set of regulations and guidelines must be strictly followed although in some areas, to encourage innovation there is some latitude offered as long as the following steps are followed and documented:Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Good Manufacturing Practices specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Ensure raw materials are of quality. Record detailing the whole process of manufacturing should be kept High standards of cleanliness should be maintained Confirm the qualifications of the manufacturing personnel. Do in house testing immediate after manufacture. Ensure that high standards are maintained in the production processes. Maintain proper channels of storage as well as of distribution (Finn 1999). The process involved in changi ng of the drugs The actual stage of manufacture is the last stage in the pharmaceutical drug production. Thus to change the profile content of an existing drug is treated the same as manufacturing because the side effects of this new ingredients are not yet known. This process requires strict and rigorous documentation for the drug to comply with the good manufacturing process. Recording of the entire manufacturing process is mandatory because the records can be used in the case of a problem or when challenged by legal hurdles (Leape 1994). The first documents involved are the research documents. Before any pharmaceutical drugs are manufactured for public use, research must be undertaken. First in the labs to ensure that, they will work for the intended purposes. This is done by testing the compounds that are thought to contain substrates that can help to combat or help to alleviate the symptoms of the disease the drug is intended. The process is complicated and can be achieved usin g many methods including use of computer simulation or testing the combinations nature if different compounds. At this point, the research findings must be documented and the total RD funds used in the process documented as well. The handling of the new material should be handled with care and should be treated as raw materials until all the tests have been concluded. The raw materials should be tested to ensure that they comprise of the required substrates The QC manager should be able determine their origin and method of manufacture. This is because the sources could be natural or synthetic (Rang, et al. 2003). This is because most of the raw materials that had been produced naturally in the past now are now being produced synthetically. Their production process production should be investigated by the QC manager to ensure that it is up to all the standards set out by the drug controlling body of the respective country. He should ensure that the raw materials are also inclusive of active pharmaceutical ingredients that are pharmaceutically safe and that they contain the desired effects on the body (Ray 2003).Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More After being certain that, the raw materials are well according to standards, the next step should be the production of the sample of the drugs so that they can be used for testing and for obtainment of a license. After the manufacture of the sample, the testing of the drug is ready and can be done (Ray and Alan 2005). Testing of the drug The testing of the drug is carried out through drug trials where a sample of people are administered the drugs and the effects it has on the people recorded for further analysis. The first step in the testing is the use of preclinical studies. These are done in vitro tubes or on animal and cell structure experiments (Ruesch 1991). The next step is the use of a small numb er of volunteers to investigate whether the drug has any therapeutic effect on the human body as was expected. This stage does not deal with safety or even the efficacy of the drug (Ruesch 1992). Phase 1 involves using groups of about 20-100 healthy volunteers to establish the safeness of the drug and also the total time the body can absorb and make use of it. The stage also include dose ranging so that the exact amount of dose that be used for therapeutic purposes is established. Payments of the volunteers are done according to the agreed amount and the time spent on the testing facilities. The other stage of testing involves the use of a large number of patients’ volunteers. They test on the drug to establish how effective it is against the symptoms of the disease, the amounts of the doses that are effective and the side effects that might occur. The final stage involves the use of a large number of volunteers to test the drug. At this point the effective nature of the drug is investigated as well as the side effects that can occur in the event of the usage of the drug. After the success of this stage, then the drug is licensed and given a trademark name ready to be sold to the public ( Burgos 1986). Impurity profiles Impurities are common in drugs because they are also part of the ingredients used in their manufacturing process and purity tests must be undertaken to ensure their complete elimination. The most famous and effective is the use of chromatography that separates the impurities from the real ingredients if they are any available (Braithwaite 1984).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Good Manufacturing Practices specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More After the impurities have been identified, ways should be formulated to ensure their removal and also to minimize their effects on the drug. This should be by elimination of some of the manufacturing practices that are practiced in the f irm. There should be manufacture of fine crystals while the process of isolation, the drying of the tablets should be done by a vacuum dryer and finely stability studies should be undertaken and detailed investigations on the process of preparation (Barnett 2003). How to ensure high quality products are produced To ensure that high quality products are produced, quality control should be applied at every stage of manufacture. This is to make sure that there is early identification of any production problems especially the weakness of the drugs. If a problem is identified then, production should stop and the problem determined (Baker 1994). Conclusion Good manufacturing practices are guidelines which are set for the safety of the public while using the pharmaceutical drugs. The entire process should be adhered to ensure that only quality kinds of drugs are available to the public. There have been cases of some pharmaceutical companies using undue methods to get their drugs approved b ut later these drugs cause some un repairable damage or even death. The governing body such as the FDA in the United States should that the process is strictly followed and only quality drugs are licensed for sale. References Baker, A., 1994. Social networking Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1

Social networking - Essay Example The particular study would be evaluated by referring to a variety of its characteristics, such as structure and content/ evidence. Also, the contribution of the study, for understanding the potential implications of social networking sites could be explored. Hak has divided the study into thematic sections, so that all aspects of the issues under discussion are covered. In this context, Introduction is used for explaining to the reader the paper’s key points and objectives. Then, two sections have been used for presenting the findings of the literature in regard to the study’s subject: the first section, entitled as ‘Social Media Networking’ (Hak 2012, p.12) shows the structure and role of social networking sites, as these issues have been analyzed in the literature. The second section, entitled as ‘Security Risks and Trust Zones’(Hak 2012, p.14) explains the security issues involved in the use of social networking sites and describes the struc ture of Security Trust Zones, as tools for protecting the privacy of these sites’ users. At the next level, Hak refers to the ‘Analytic Hierarchy Process’ (Hak 2012, p.15), a tool developed by ‘Saaty in 1970s’ (Hak 2012, p.15). The potential use of this tool for assessing the security risks of social networking sites is analytically explained (Hak 2012, p.15-16). ... Literature is used for showing the various aspects of study’s subject. It should be noted that the literature chosen is recent; mostly studies of 2010 and 2011 have been used, reflecting the actual status of social networking sites as tools for communication. Moreover, academic journals have been preferred, instead of books, aiming to use, as possible, empirical evidence for supporting the assumptions made. Also, a methodology is suggested for facing a key problem in regard to social networking sites: the assessment of security risks related to these sites. In addition, graphs and tables are used, where appropriate, for making the explanations given clearer. In other words, Hak has covered successfully both the theoretical and practical aspects of the issues under discussion. At this point the following issue should be discussed: which is the value of the study of Hak in regard to the understanding of risks related to social networking sites? At a first level, the study of Hak shows that social networking sites can be related to risks, especially security risks. These risks are analytically explained using appropriate literature, so that no doubts can exist in regard to the security implications of social networking sites. Then, the structure of social media networking is explained, so that the users of social networking sites are aware of the potential security gaps involved. The use of graphs, as possible, increases the value of the study of Hak in presenting the security risks of social media networking. Also, the study of Hak provides a methodology for assessing the security risks related to social networking sites. This methodology is based on a model that was first introduced in 1970s but which was never used, up today, for assessing the

Risk Assessment of Sangrafix Video Design Company

Risk Assessment of Sangrafix Video Design Company Introduction SanGrafix is a technologically oriented company that uses cutting edge technologies in designing of mobile and PC platform games with market orientation. Due to the demanding nature of the gaming industry, the company has decided to perform a risk assessment to ensure they consistently continue to meet the customer demands without interruptions in service delivery. Securing of their network assets is aimed at ensuring they remain competitive in their productions. Aim of the security policy The risk assessment process can sometimes be a simple process i.e. noting a threat in a password written down on a note or some unlocked door to the sensitive data centers or rooms and seeking to address it. However, in some cases, risk assessment can be a complex task that may require a group of security assessment members and months to fully do the assessment depending on the complexity of the company and the sensitivity of the network assets to be protected (Davenport, 2013). A large environment may include multiple locations, complex network, diverse activities, a wide range of activities and resources that have to be evaluated. In risk assessment, you dont need to apply complex networking methodologies as the mainly you have to learn how to apply knowledge methodically to produce accurate and useful data. Approaching a risk assessment task without a predefined strategy could lead to wasting of resources, repetition of steps, low results or in a worst case missing the critical information. The executive management of SanGrafix Company is tasked with the responsibility of assessing all risks of injury and health issues that may result from the use of the companys resources to both the employees and customers of their goods and services. Satisfying this ensures that the company meets the government legal requirements and providing appropriate precaution measures to reduce these effects (Harrington, 2014). Risk assessment is a detailed analysis of the diverse factors that may present risks in the business environment. Health issues and accidents present adverse effects to the business as they can result in endangering of lives or damage to business products and other outputs. This can subsequently lead to legal suits and increased insurance costs. Risk assessment serves to address these issues and make a safer working environment for all the employees and customers. The most important factor in this type of assessment is the determination of the hazards present in working places and determining their significance i.e. electricity in the working environment is a huge hazard to the employees but if properly protected the risk it presents to the employees becomes insignificant. There are five steps involved in risk assessment of the workplace environment; Taking a tour of the workplace and to get a better understanding of all the processes involved in the workplace and identifying possible potential dangers. Talking to the other employees can help provide insights through opinions on how accidents have occurred in the past. Deciding on the affected parties as a result of a given potential hazard and to what extent is the risk harmful. The reviewing team should analyze who is particularly at risk i.e. new employees, trainees and expectant mothers. In addition to this the public in form of customers who are not familiar with the general layout of the company is at risk of being affected. The risk assessment team should evaluate on the existence of enough measures to counter these hazards i.e. through the use of precaution signs. For each risk established what are the preventive and protective measures put in place by the management to ensure risk is reduced. The assessment takes into consideration the legal requirements on health and safety of the law. Besides this, the assessment team should find additional measures that can be implemented to support the existing measures i.e. protective clothing and guard rails for hazardous places (Harrington, 2014). Recording of the findings of the assessment team indicating all the hazards reviewed and the recommendations to the management on how to deal with them. The findings should also evaluate the affected victims and what hazards are yet to be handled whose significance is reasonably low. The final step is for the reviewing of the findings and implementations of the recommendations given by the assessment teams. The team should also address the future handling of new machinery or work procedure implementations that might present threats allowing for a risk-free working environment. Risk Assessment Methodology As we have already established there are different approaches through which a team can carry out a risk assessment process. However, all these approaches have to ensure they have; Identified the potential threats/ hazards Identifying of the underlying risk Reviewing of the existing control measures Evaluation of the risks Implementation of additional control measures Recording of the assessment findings Monitoring and review Informing of the responsible bodies The identification of available hazards can be achieved through observations, interviewing the employees or through firsthand experience by working there. Additional data can be gathered through consultation of data sheets (COSHH), workplace inspections, hazard crib sheets, instruction manuals and accidents/ health issues data. The main focus should be on the hazards that are significantly harmful. In SanGrafix, the machine operators, members of the office staff, the public and maintenance personnel are at risk of general work hazards. Special attention should be dedicated to disabled staff as they are at the highest risk, lone workers, inexperienced workers and temporal staff. The assessment team should analyze the adequacy of the current control procedures and further create a ranking system to determine the residual risk (Hallikas, 2010). Evaluate the risk The significance of a risk is measured by the likelihood and the severity of its impact. Here is a ranking system for the risks in order of significance Highly likely Unlikely Possible Probable Certain There should also be a harm or impact severity ranking system Trivial injuries i.e. scratches Minor injuries i.e. cuts Major injuries ( an injury that could require a week to heal i.e. fracture) Major injuries i.e. amputations Death These two rankings will be used to give the residual ranking of the risk as Low, medium or high. If the risk is low then it can be skipped as it presents a negligible threat. Medium and high-level risks have to be mitigated to ensure that the potential risk is reduced to acceptable levels. SUNGRAFIX PROCESSES ASSOCIATED RISKS TARGETS OF THE RISK RISKS EVALUATION CONTROL MEASURES Game design treatment -quick review of the target audience and provision of unique features Reviewing of this risks is time and human resource intensive which translates to costs Risks of the idea getting stolen. Game preliminary design- discussing the games content, behavior, and rules in a qualitative way given theÂÂ   current situation. Missing of critical processes Production department The quality assessment of the product can reveal shortcoming that could result in additional costs The design phase is very important to the product and cannot be reduced as this could present adverse effects. Preliminary design roughly takes 5 to 10 weeks for the designer, and an additional 10 to 30 hours for the other people involved in brainstorming. Final design- the previous document re-write of products features . Whether we plan well or follow the best practices some designs will just fail. Thats the nature of business Design department Failing to capture the product features could affect the marketing strategies but rigorous counter checking can resolve the issue soÂÂ   impact is unlikely to happen Knowing in advance the parts that are disposable allows for the team to be able to deliver in time. Besides, the risky parts that are cut can be scheduled for later, so that if it needs to be taken out, so that the teams time and effort wont have been wasted. The product specification- details how the implementation of features adopted in the final design will be done. overtime, extra costs, in the last months of production and Delay of final delivery. . Design department These is probable if the team doesnt follow their schedule efforts should be dedicated to ensuring the product specification is as realistic as possible and thorough The graphic bible- determines the look and feel of the games props, maps, characters, etc. The appearance of the game should be in line with the predefined vision. Design department User acceptance of the games is highly dependent on the graphical feel hence should be prioritized. Testing of the prototype to get user feedback and implementation of the user feedbacks into the designs. The interactive screenplay Lack of User -involvement Design department Users expect an interactive game although its unlikely to happen it has major impacts on user acceptance Provide for a way through which users can interact with the system i.e. with dialogs and implementation of the storyline into the product. Distribution Failure of delivery or poor handling of products Supply department These can result in major impacts in declined user satisfaction Working on improving service delivery as it directly impacts the user satisfaction. Sales Lower supply than the production rate Marketing sales departments ensuring the customer gets their services to ensure they satisfy demand as gaming industry is a perishable service. convincing potential customers to purchase your products and services. Billing and Collections Losses Accounts The company has to gain a monetary value to be a business. Lack of a billing system could result in bankruptcy customers are required to pay for their goods or services Accounts Receivable managing of records on earnings Poor record keeping accounts This can lead to lack of accountability There should be a system to monitor records and generate reports Purchasing- acquiring the necessary inputs required to support production. Low production quality Low production Purchases Low-quality products will certainly push customers away Enhance production process to create quality products that can satisfy demand Accounts Payable- Poor accountability Accounts evaluating the expenditure of the company There should be a system to monitor records and generate reports Finance- Poor accountability accounts managing organizations monetary resources There should be a system to monitor records and generate reports Marketing- establishing willing buyers and establishing their needs and requirements. Research-. Small market share marketing This directly impacts the sales of the products and services analyzing market for new value sources in the business Product Development- Lower product recognition and acceptance levels Management marketing This affects the product acceptance levels Creating new strategies to promote products and services. Legal- seeking of legal advice and protecting against legal suits. Legal suits Public relations These can have adverse events that could have major impacts on the company image The company should look to settle outside the court as this could tarnish the companys reputation Human Resource Personnel- finding, recruiting, and compensating affected people. Under-staffing or overstaffing Logistics Understaffing or overstaffing may have certainly cause the company losses Without these data the human resource department cannot make the required plans to support its service delivery hence good planning should be done in advance Implementation of new control measures cases where the risks are not well controlled it is advisable to use new control procedures to ensure they reduce the chance of accidents happening, severity of the accident or both. The following hierarchy of controls helps in deciding what new controls are required Elimination: is it possible to get rid of the risk or the process causing the threats altogether? Substitution: can the current process be exchanged for an alternative that is less severe and risky? Physical controls: separation or isolation of the hazardous regions or processes. Eliminating contact with the hazards is effective through controlling accessibility to such regions Administrative controls: designing of the rule regarding contacts with hazards to creating safe systems procedures of working. Instructions, informing, training and supervision: informing people of the present hazards and training them how to deal with the hazards. Personal protective equipment: proper dressing can go a long way in reducing the impact or severity of the hazards. However, this should be used as additional counter measures and not as the primary and only control measure. Control measures should be easy to implement and practical, able to reduce risks, acceptable by the employees and easy to follow. Since the organization is continuously growing and uses new technologies every day, there should be re-ranking of the risks after implementing of new control measures so as to determine the new residual risk (Hallikas, 2010). Recording the assessment findings The assessments records are of paramount importance as they are usually required by inspectors. There should be records of all the risk assessments done and the implemented changes. Monitoring and reviewing The implemented control measures should be effective in performing the expected controls. Regular reviewing of the control measures should be based on new staff or changes in processes and acquiring of new machines. Informing the relevant stakeholders Its a legal responsibility of the organization to relay the findings of the assessment to all the relevant stakeholders who might be affected by its implementations. The workforce should also be notified of the new changes in control measures and the appropriate emergency procedures that have been developed. Conclusion The consequences of not delivering critical services and products are severe especially in a competitive industry in which SanGrafix operates. Preparation of the organization to potential threats helps reduce the risks and potential impacts of the disasters. Risk assessment allows for moderation of risks and continued delivery of services despite any disruptions (Nigro et al., 2011). Identification and analyzing of business processes has to be anchored to products, customers, orders, suppliers or a combination of all these. Caution should be exercised in the use of input -process- output model as the thinking framework guiding business processes. Customers to a huge extent are not concerned of the internal functioning of the organization resulting in service delivery or the transformational processes in production. In fact this is part of the bigger streams of activity that involve the unending loop between customers and their suppliers. Defining of the business process is an iterative and vexing process and is a result of committed hard work on continuous improvement (Harrington, 2014). References Davenport, Thomas H., (2013). Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Essay -- essays research papers fc

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight: Sir Gawain Faces Temptation   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Sir Gawain was known as a noble and honest man who was willing to stare death in the face to protect King Arthur. However, the courtly Sir Gawain is submitted to the unexpected—not to the test he expects, but to one he does not expect (qtd. in Spearing). The underlying theme throughout the entire poem is temptation, which, is Sir Gawain’s greatest challenge because he is not aware of it.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   He faltered not nor feared   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  But quickly went his way,   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  His road was rough and weird,   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Or so the stories say. (qtd. Stone 47)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Sir Gawain stands up just as the Green Knight challenges King Arthur. Gawain saves his uncle from the humiliation the Green Knight imposes on the King from his badgering; for this Gawain is very brave. He has no fear in approaching the Green Knight and accepting the game. Sir Gawain was a man who was held in high esteem before the people at Camelot. Thus, he was given the title Sir Gawain, which sealed his noble existence. A knight is a man who, for some achievement, is given honorary rank and thus entitling him to use Sir before his given name (qtd. in Webster’s pg. 747). Berry 2 King Arthur was a very honorable man, one with boyish spirits and youthful persona. The King also displays his humble nature when at the table, he refused to begin eating before any of his guests. However, when the Green Knight confronts him he does not cower before him.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  He raged as roaring gale;   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  His followers felt the same.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The King, not one to quail,   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  To that cavalier then came.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The Green Knight was described as a handsome, muscular man. Because every article of clothing the Green Knight wore was green, including his skin and hair, he is reminiscent of a fertility god. This idea of a fertility god plays a role when introducing the theme of temptation on the behalf of the Lord’s wife... ... of his fault must itself be viewed with amusement, as part of his human fallibility.† (Borroff, Introduction) He expects (and we expect with him when we first read the poem) that the real test he has to nerve himself for is meeting the Green Knight at the Green Chapel and receiving a presumably mortal blow from his axe. But when, after a tremendous effort of will, he does bring himself to face the Green Knight and accept the blow, it turns out that this is not the test itself. This test is only the symbol of a previous test which was carried out by the Green Knight’s wife, and which Gawain has already failed, marked by the girdle he accepted as a gift.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Berry 5 Works Cited Abrahms, M.H. Analysis of “On Being a Cripple” by Nancy Mairs

The descriptive essay, â€Å"On Being A Cripple,† by Nancy Mairs demonstrates a purpose to postulate the way society has brainwashed people to judge others incorrectly in order to expose the true thoughts of a person living beneath the glamorized world. Mairs strongly feels that â€Å"[she has not] lost anything in the course of this calamitous disease† (37), known as Multiple Sclerosis, a disease that deteriorates the nerves and interferes with brain and body communication because the immune system has eaten away the protective covering on the nerve cells. To assert her confidence, Mairs initiates her essay with a strong, simple term to define herself: â€Å"a cripple† (37). She wants society to â€Å"wince† (37) in order to portray that candy coated euphemisms have made society weak. Mairs does not want her readers to feel sympathy, but to see the perspective of a person with the disease. Towards the end of the essay, Mairs is reflects back on society's w ays by comparing herself to other women who have the same disease and by declating she is â€Å"not a disease† (43) magnifies what this condition is to her on a more personal level. This disease is not just a besetment, it is a part of her life. Mairs exemplifies her suggested use of â€Å"cripple† by alluding to the â€Å"Lindsfarne Gospel† (37), which contains the first use of the word â€Å"cripple. † Mairs uses this to allow the audience to view the world in a more formal way. Therefore, a gospel might put on a different view of â€Å"cripple† rather than an impolite slang term. Her goal is to create an acceptance and understanding of the word and her condition to the society and the people who are living with the condition as well. Mairs points out numerous times that she has as learned to live through her disease in which she compares herself to many others who have MS yet gave up on trying to live their life; Mairs sees herself â€Å"like fat people, who are expected to be jolly,† (41) but states â€Å"cripples must bear their lot meekly and cheerfully,† (41) creating a comparison for herself.Subsequently, Mairs has added on more pressure for herself. Although she claims that she is against society's ways, she cares about the expectations they give her, later adding â€Å"this is a class act† (41). Trying to please society and herself at the same time is difficult for Mairs as she â€Å"[winds] up feeling like Tiny Tim, peering over the edge of the table†¦waving [her] crutch† (41), but prefers to be a â€Å"Caliban, a most scurvy monster† (42).When she feels like â€Å"Tiny Tim† (41), she is viewing herself how the world views her, a person who is disabled. Mairs would rather classify herself as a â€Å"Caliban† (42) or a â€Å"cripple† to evoke society to â€Å"wince† (37) at her and see her as the strong woman that she truly is. Nancy Mairs' purpose is to leave an effect on her readers to help them understand her feelings about the pressure society has established and how it has changed her and the rest of humanity in order to prove them wrong.

On The Morning Of September 11, 2001, The Bedrock Of American

On the morning of September 11, 2001, the bedrock of American society was shaken as two airlines flew into the Twin Towers in New York City. The first plane crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center at 8:45 in the morning. Less than 18 minutes later, the second plane flew into the south tower, and shortly thereafter both towers were in ruins, covering the streets of NYC. In total, four airliners were hijacked by terrorists who planned to carry out attacks on important targets in the United States. Of the two other planes, one flew into the Pentagon and the final one crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. The attacks on 9/11 claimed almost three thousand lives and spawned a war. The effects of these events can still be felt†¦show more content†¦Bush was not particularly known for his oration skills, but his address atop the rubble of the downed towers struck American’s right where it mattered most. â€Å"I can hear you!† Bush declared. â€Å"The res t of the world hears you! And the people – and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon† (Eidenmuller). The crowd responded with repeated, loud chants of â€Å"USA! USA!† which, in many ways, could be heard across the globe. The crowd’s patriotism and pride transcended the scene. Right away, Bush established an environment of emotional union; when one man from the crowd shouted that he could not hear Bush speak, Bush responded, â€Å"It can’t go any louder.† The crowd laughed, thereby bringing people together in a lighthearted act, without diminishing seriousness of the situation. Bush also thanked the workers for their service during such a crucial time and in dangerous conditions. When he did this, a sense of heroism could be felt moving through the crowd. Sentiments such as this dramatically demonstrate the power of rhetoric. Bush appealed to the raw nerve of the crowd, especially when he told them â€Å"I can hear you† and followed that up by telling them we would retaliate. In this, Bush motivated the crowd not to lose faith but maintain their brave and valiant efforts. The subsequent cheers and chants were an outpouring of emotions from the hearts of the onlookers, a kin d of patriotic passion ignited by the President sShow MoreRelatedExploring Corporate Strategy - Case164366 Words   |  658 PagesECS8C_C01.qxd 22/10/2007 11:54 Page 597 CASE STUDIES ECS8C_C01.qxd 22/10/2007 11:54 Page 598 ECS8C_C01.qxd 22/10/2007 11:54 Page 599 Guide to using the case studies The main text of this book includes 87 short illustrations and 15 case examples which have been chosen to enlarge speciï ¬ c issues in the text and/or provide practical examples of how business and public sector organisations are managing strategic issues.
